For various reasons to do with real life, this journal will be going on hiatus. It's temporary, but I have no idea when the stress will let up, or when (if?) I'll feel inspired to write fanfic again. Maybe in a week, or a month, or a year. Who knows! There are, after all, various Silmarillion characters I've recently developed an interest in.

Works-in-progress are on hold. I may be slow answering comments, but will try to continue to do so.

Notes: this is all dialogue - no descriptive prose, no identifying tags, just the dialogue itself to determine who is speaking. It took me a week, and I'm still not sure I pulled it off. I also got away from the original prompt somewhat. It's based on a fragment of a story in which Persephone, jealous that Aidoneus (Hades) seems to be in love with the nymph Mentha, turns her rival into a sprig of mint. This story assumes you know the myth of Persephone's abduction.

I've wanted to approach the Persephone myth for a while now, and even if this piece is a loss, I think it showed me a way I can address the abduction story without sinking into the melodrama of a simple retelling. For that, it's worth it. And I think I'll be slinking back to conventional prose now.
